TikTok famous couple Quran McCain and Cheryl McGregor opened up about how their surrogacy journey took a devastating turn after the woman carrying their baby allegedly turned out to have a drug addiction. The couple, known for their 37 year age gap that went viral in 2023, revealed the heartbreaking details in an emotional TikTok that left their millions of followers stunned.
Quran And Cheryl McCain Open Up About Their Surrogacy Nightmare
Quran, 26, and Cheryl, who is in her early 60s, announced in June 2024 that they were preparing to welcome their first child together via surrogacy. The couple had been posting pregnancy updates on social media, sharing their excitement with fans. But their joy was short lived. On Father's Day, the surrogate reportedly told the couple she no longer wanted to carry the baby.
"For the last two weeks, I've been going through hell, literally, hell. I don't know if she's going to kill my baby or what, but right now, at this point, I just need prayer. I need peace 'cause I'm tired of fighting for something I've been wanting for so f*****g long."
Quran broke down in tears during the TikTok, leaving fans heartbroken. According to The Sun, the surrogate was reportedly a Caucasian woman in her 20s from Alabama who had reached out to the couple on social media and offered to carry their child.
The Full Story
When asked whether they had investigated the woman before agreeing to the arrangement, Quran admitted they had not. He explained that the surrogate had no medical issues when they first met and discussed the arrangement in person. However, things changed once she moved in with the couple. Cheryl described the woman as manipulative and said she repeatedly begged them for money.
The couple also alleged that they discovered the surrogate had a drug addiction, something they were completely unaware of before the arrangement began. According to reports, this was not the couple's first failed surrogacy attempt. They had reportedly gone through three unsuccessful tries before finding this particular surrogate.
The Surrogacy Saga Continued To Spiral
The situation only got worse from there. According to additional reporting from The Sun, the surrogate later told the couple she intended to keep the baby entirely. The ongoing drama played out publicly on TikTok, where Quran and Cheryl have over 3 million followers on their joint account. Fans were divided, with some expressing sympathy for the couple and others questioning why they did not use a legitimate surrogacy agency.
Quran and Cheryl first met when Quran was just 15 years old, though Cheryl has insisted nothing romantic happened at the time. They reconnected in November 2020 and got engaged at an Olive Garden in July 2021 before tying the knot later that year. Despite constant criticism over their age difference, the couple has remained together and continued sharing their lives online. Quran was also previously arrested in November 2021 in Rome, Georgia on insurance fraud charges, though he was released after posting bond.
