Editorial Standards

The Talk Lounge is an independent digital media and entertainment company. These standards describe how we report, verify, attribute, label, and correct our work. They apply to our website and our official social accounts.

Accuracy & Verification

We aim to get it right. Every material factual claim, quote, statistic, legal filing, and allegation is expected to be supported by a verifiable source before publication.

  • We distinguish between what is confirmed, reported, alleged, and developing.
  • Multiple outlets repeating the same claim is not the same as independent confirmation, and we say so.
  • When facts are still emerging, we label a story as developing and update it.

Sourcing & Attribution

When another publication originates a story, we credit it. When we obtain information ourselves, we say how.

  • We use precise attribution such as “according to court records,” “police said,” or “first reported by [publication].”
  • For legal coverage, our Court Desk relies on primary records — court documents, docket numbers, filing dates, orders, and transcripts — whenever available.
  • We do not use the word “exclusive” unless the reporting is genuinely our own.

Legal & Fairness

People accused of crimes are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. We distinguish carefully between an allegation, a charge, and a conviction, and we do not describe someone as guilty of conduct that has only been alleged.

We seek comment from the subjects of critical coverage where practical and note when a response was not available.

Editorial Labels

We distinguish the type of content so readers know what they are reading:

  • News — straightforward reporting of events.
  • Exclusive — original reporting first published by The Talk Lounge.
  • Analysis / Explainer — context and interpretation based on disclosed facts.
  • Opinion / Commentary — the writer’s viewpoint.
  • Investigation — in-depth reporting over time.
  • Sponsored / Press Release — paid or partner content, clearly disclosed and separate from editorial.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

The Talk Lounge uses technology, including AI tools, to assist our operation. We are transparent about what that does and does not mean.

  • AI may assist with research, drafting, formatting, and production support.
  • AI-generated news does not publish without accountable human editorial review.
  • AI is not permitted to invent facts, quotes, sources, statistics, or documents.
  • Factual claims are verified against real sources regardless of how a draft was produced.

Advertising & Editorial Independence

Advertising and sponsored partnerships are kept separate from editorial coverage. Paying for advertising does not buy favorable coverage, and it never determines whether or how we report a story.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and document it. Our public corrections log records the article, date, the original issue, and the correction.
