Cardi B has never been one to hide her feelings, but when it comes to her marriage to Offset, walking away was apparently much more complicated than simply packing a bag and calling it quits.
During her September 2025 appearance on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, Cardi opened up about the emotional toll of her marriage, why she stayed despite their problems, and how Stefon Diggs eventually entered her life as she began accepting that her marriage was over.
And one thing Cardi made clear is that despite everything that happened, she doesn't consider those years with Offset a waste.
Cardi B Says Her Marriage To Offset Was Not A Waste Of Time
Cardi and Offset secretly married in 2017 and eventually welcomed three children together, Kulture, Wave, and Blossom.
Their marriage was also repeatedly rocked by cheating allegations, separations, reconciliations, and disagreements that sometimes unfolded right in front of the public.
Still, Cardi doesn't look at the entire relationship as one big mistake.
She acknowledged having regrets, but also explained that becoming a wife and mother taught her important lessons about relationships, family, and herself.
That's where things become more complicated than what people watching from the outside might understand.
Cardi revealed there were periods when she and Offset lived separately for months. Even with that physical distance, she wasn't necessarily emotionally ready to completely let go.

Offset Later Admitted He Was Unfaithful During Their Marriage
Infidelity became one of the biggest public issues surrounding Cardi and Offset's relationship.

Their daughter Blossom arrived that September.
But filing paperwork doesn't magically erase years of history.
They still shared three children, memories, and a relationship that had consumed a major portion of both of their adult lives.

Then came Stefon Diggs.
As Cardi began adjusting to the reality that her marriage was ending, she eventually developed a connection with the NFL star.
But according to Cardi, this wasn't some random celebrity DM that turned into a relationship overnight.
She said she had heard that Diggs was interested in her, but he initially respected her situation and kept his distance.
Eventually, the two started communicating.
And Cardi admitted she was nervous.
After spending years emotionally invested in one marriage, opening yourself up to somebody completely new can be a lot.
She explained that she had to stop distracting herself from what was happening and actually accept that her marriage was ending.
From there, conversations with Diggs became increasingly meaningful.

By May 2025, there wasn't much left to speculate about.
Cardi and Diggs publicly confirmed their romance when they appeared together at a New York Knicks playoff game.
And once they went public, everybody had something to say.
Part of the attention came from the fact that Cardi's divorce from Offset was still unresolved.
But Cardi was moving forward with her life.
Then came another major development.
In September 2025, Cardi confirmed during an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings that she was expecting her fourth child and her first with Diggs.
She spoke about feeling supported by Diggs while juggling motherhood, her career, and preparations surrounding her album Am I the Drama?
On November 4, 2025, Cardi welcomed their son.
Cardi B And Stefon Diggs Have Faced Their Own Relationship Questions
Of course, a new relationship doesn't automatically mean everything becomes perfect.
By 2026, Cardi and Diggs had faced their own share of breakup rumors and questions surrounding the status of their relationship.
Fans closely watched social media activity, public appearances, and anything else they could find for clues about whether the couple was together, separated, or attempting to work things out.
So while Diggs represented a fresh chapter after Offset, that chapter has come with complications of its own.
And maybe that's the bigger point.
Moving on doesn't mean moving into perfection.
Cardi B Is Still Learning What Life After Offset Looks Like
For years, Cardi B and Offset were one of hip hop's most watched couples.
People saw the expensive gifts, family moments, reconciliations, breakups, cheating accusations, public arguments, and everything in between.
But underneath all of that celebrity drama was a woman trying to figure out when enough was actually enough.
Cardi can acknowledge that Offset hurt her while still recognizing that their marriage gave her children, memories, and lessons she doesn't regret having.
And Stefon Diggs didn't simply appear as a replacement for her husband.
According to Cardi's own account, their connection developed while she was learning how to emotionally accept the end of a marriage she had spent years trying to hold together.
Sometimes leaving isn't the hardest part. Accepting that you're really done is.
Now Cardi is navigating motherhood, her career, her relationship with Diggs, and a new version of life that doesn't include Offset as her husband.
