From VH1 to Bravo? Yandy Is Open
Yandy Smith spent nearly 15 years in front of VH1 cameras on Love & Hip Hop, appearing across both the New York and Atlanta editions. But now that VH1 has officially pulled the plug on the franchise, she is looking at new options. And one of them might just involve picking up a peach.
In a new interview with The Neighborhood Talk alongside her close friend and Married to Medicine star Quad Webb, Yandy made it clear she would not turn down a call from Bravo.
"I would absolutely explore the opportunity to join RHOA if Bravo ever came calling."
She Already Has the Connections
What makes this interesting is that Yandy is not just throwing her name in the ring for clout. She already runs deep with the current Real Housewives of Atlanta cast.
"I'm really close to Porsha [Williams], close to Shamea [Morton Mwangi], Kelli [Potter] is my girl," she explained. "Like, these are my real friends outside of camera, so it would be a natural relationship for sure."
That kind of pre-existing dynamic is exactly what makes Housewives casting work. Viewers want authentic connections and real tension, not forced storylines between strangers.
K. Michelle Opened the Door
The precedent has already been set. Earlier this year, Bravo made the unprecedented decision to bring K. Michelle from the Love & Hip Hop universe directly into the RHOA Season 17 cast. That was the first time a Love & Hip Hop alum crossed into the Bravoverse, and it opened a floodgate.
Joseline Hernandez recently petitioned Andy Cohen for a spot on The Real Housewives of Miami during its hiatus. Clearly, former VH1 stars see a path that did not exist before.
But Yandy Is Not Rushing
Despite the openness, Yandy said she is focused on bigger moves right now.
"I'm kind of great where I am. Reality TV, it's been almost 20 years for me. Wow, so I got two movies I'm shooting this year. Stay tuned for that. That is really my focus right now. And then the opportunity, if God willing, things come around that circle back to reality TV. I'll certainly explore it."
Two movies in one year is a significant pivot for someone who built their brand through reality television. Yandy clearly wants to show the world she is more than confessionals and reunion drama.
Would She Fit on RHOA?
On paper, Yandy Smith checks every box. She brings name recognition, existing relationships with the cast, business ventures, and the kind of unapologetic personality that drives Sunday night ratings. Some fans are already calling her a more natural fit than K. Michelle.
The question is whether Bravo will make the call, and whether Yandy will be ready to answer when they do.
The Bottom Line
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs every Sunday at 8/7c on Bravo, with next-day streaming on Peacock. Whether Yandy Smith joins the cast remains to be seen, but with Love & Hip Hop officially dead, do not be surprised if her peach is closer than anyone thinks.
