Deen The Great Charged With Felony Robbery After Miami Yacht Dispute

Popular internet streamer Deen The Great, whose legal name is Nurideen Shabazz, is facing up to 15 years in prison after Florida prosecutors charged him with felony robbery in connection with an alleged confrontation aboard a yacht in Miami.

What Happened On May 27

According to court documents, a woman described as a female acquaintance contacted police after an alleged dispute with Shabazz on May 27 while aboard a yacht. She told investigators the disagreement escalated after other men on the vessel attempted to speak with her.

The woman alleged that Shabazz warned her not to entertain conversations with anyone else before ordering her off the yacht. When she attempted to record the interaction on her phone, she claims he grabbed her forearm in an effort to stop her.

Investigators noted a minor scratch on the woman's left forearm.

The Charges

Miami prosecutors filed two charges against Shabazz:

Felony robbery, classified as a second-degree felony in Florida, carries up to 15 years in state prison. The misdemeanor battery charge carries up to one year in county jail.

The robbery charge appears connected to the alleged phone-grabbing incident, which prosecutors may be classifying as taking property by force.

Previous Legal Issues

This is not Deen The Great's first brush with the law. The former boxer built his streaming career on confrontational content that has previously resulted in physical altercations. He was recently involved in a street fight with boxer Adrien Broner that appeared to end their business partnership.

The case is working its way through Miami-Dade County courts. No trial date has been set. Deen The Great has not publicly commented on the charges.
