David Crowley Wins Wisconsin Governor Race And Makes History

David Crowley won the Wisconsin governor race on November 3, 2026, defeating Tom Tiffany by about 53 percent to about 47 percent.
Crowley becomes Wisconsin first Black governor, at age 40 the youngest governor in the country and the youngest Wisconsin governor in almost a century.
The Milwaukee County executive succeeds Governor Tony Evers, who did not seek a third term.
The Associated Press called the race at 10:28 p.m. on November 3, 2026.
He takes office in January 2027, when a new chapter begins for Wisconsin and for a leader whose career has been shaped by service in Milwaukee County and by work close to the communities he will now lead statewide.

The result was watched closely across Wisconsin and across the country, not only because Wisconsin is a closely watched battleground state, but also because the race marked a first that many voters had waited to see. For supporters, the win is a sign of new energy and a chance to build on work done in Milwaukee County. For others, the margin is a reminder that Wisconsin elections are often close and that every community matters in the final count. As Crowley prepares to take office, attention will turn to how he puts his promises into action, how he works with lawmakers, and how he leads a state with cities, farms, lakes and towns that each face different needs. History will remember this race for its firsts, for the youth of the winner, and for the way Wisconsin voters chose a new leader while honoring the work of the governor who came before him. The Talk Lounge will continue to follow the transition, the new administration and the reaction from voters across Wisconsin as January 2027 approaches and a new chapter begins for the state.
Wisconsin voters have now made a choice that will shape the state for years, and the work of governing begins in earnest as the new year arrives.
