The victim reportedly suffered a serious injury to his left hand during the incident. As the engineer struggled to free himself from the robot's grip, a colleague rushed to press the emergency "stop" button to shut the machine down. After being released, the engineer accidentally fell down a chute that was designed to collect aluminum scrap from the production line.

According to the Daily Mail, which claims to have examined the injury report, Tesla did not notify authorities of any additional robot related injuries at the Texas factory in 2021 or 2022.
