Father Kills 4 Year Old Daughter In Jacksonville Family Attack

A Family Destroyed

A 4 year old girl is dead and her mother and 2 year old sister are in critical condition after Trudale Reed, 29, opened fire during a domestic dispute at a home on Traci Lynn Drive in Jacksonville's Northside neighborhood. The attack occurred just before 5 PM on Tuesday, July 1.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Reed and the 27 year old mother of his children got into an argument outside the home. During the dispute, Reed allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking the woman and both children before fleeing in a stolen SUV.

The Child Died At The Scene

The 4 year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 2 year old sister and their mother were rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. No updates on their conditions have been released.

JSO homicide detectives quickly identified Reed as the suspect. Members of the Community Problem Response Team used a vehicle block to stop his car and take him into custody.

The Charges

Trudale Reed has been charged with second degree murder, attempted first degree murder, attempted second degree murder, firing into an occupied dwelling, auto theft, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The names of the victims have not been released by police. Reed is being held without bond pending his court appearance.

Another Child Lost To Domestic Violence

This case adds to a devastating pattern of children caught in the crossfire of domestic violence. The 4 year old had no involvement in the dispute that claimed her life. She was simply present when violence erupted between her parents.
