Blueface Father Asks For Prayers As Son And Chrisean Rock Remain Behind Bars

Blueface's Father Speaks Out

Johnathan Porter Sr., the father of rapper Blueface, took to Instagram in July 2024 to ask fans to pray for his son's release from jail. In a video where he wore a white sweatshirt with Blueface's image on it, Porter Sr. told followers he was hoping and praying that his son would be released within the next 20 days for time served. He captioned the post "Free Blueface July 29th" and asked all Blueface fans to keep the rapper in their prayers.

Blueface, whose legal name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, was taken into custody on January 12, 2024, for violating the terms of his probation. The probation stemmed from a 2021 incident in Las Vegas involving an alleged attack on a club bouncer. The 27 year old rapper had been behind bars for months by the time his father made the public plea.

Prayers for Chrisean Rock Too

Porter Sr. also asked for prayers for Chrisean Rock, the mother of Blueface's youngest child Chrisean Jesus Porter Jr. Chrisean was arrested on June 10, 2024, on a felony fugitive warrant out of Oklahoma and was also incarcerated at the time of the video. Porter Sr. expressed hope that both Blueface and Chrisean would be released on the same day so that everyone could have a new start.

The situation meant that both parents of their young son were behind bars simultaneously, which added an emotional layer to the story. Blueface's mother Karlissa Saffold Harvey responded publicly to Porter Sr.'s video, though the two have had their own complicated dynamic that has played out on social media over the years.

What Actually Happened

The July 29 release date that Porter Sr. hoped for did not materialize. In August 2024, Blueface appeared in court and was sentenced to four years in prison for the probation violation. His father posted an emotional video after the sentencing, visibly shaken, telling followers they could probably tell the results by the way he looked before letting out a painful scream. He confirmed the four year sentence and told fans to stay strong.

Despite the four year sentence, Blueface anticipated an earlier release due to time already served. In an interview on the Effective Immediately podcast with DJ Hed and Gina Views, he said he expected to be out by March or April 2025. He was ultimately released on November 3, 2025, after serving approximately 21 months. Within hours of walking free, he reunited with his son Chrisean Jr. in a moment that was filmed and immediately went viral.

The Bigger Picture

The story of Blueface and Chrisean Rock has been one of the most followed and debated sagas in hip hop over the past several years. Their relationship, their legal troubles, and the well being of their son have been constant topics on social media. Porter Sr.'s prayer request was a rare moment of vulnerability from the family, and it resonated with fans who have been following the situation closely. The eventual reunion between Blueface and his son after his release provided a hopeful note to a story that has been defined by chaos and uncertainty.
