Sexyy Red And Lil Wayne Reportedly In The Studio Together Working On Joint Project

Sexyy Red and Lil Wayne have reportedly been working together on what sources close to both camps describe as a full collaboration album. The project, which has no official title or release date yet, was reportedly conceived after the two connected at a private event in New Orleans earlier this year and discovered they shared a similar creative energy.

Multiple producers associated with both artists confirmed to industry insiders that at least eight tracks have been recorded over the past two months at Wayne private studio in Miami. The sessions have been kept intentionally low profile with no social media posts or studio photos leaked.

How The Collaboration Started

According to people familiar with the situation, Wayne reached out to Sexyy Red team after seeing her perform at Essence Festival. He was reportedly impressed by her crowd control and stage presence and told associates she reminded him of the energy New Orleans artists brought to the scene in the early 2000s.

Sexyy Red, whose real name is Janae Nierah Wherry, was initially surprised by the outreach given the generational gap. But sources say the first studio session in late June produced three tracks in a single night, convincing both artists the chemistry was real enough for a full project.

Wayne has not released a solo album since Funeral in 2020, though he has appeared on dozens of features and mixtapes. A collaboration project would give him a pathway back to mainstream chart relevance without the pressure of a traditional solo rollout.

What To Expect Sonically

Producers involved in the sessions say the sound blends Sexyy Red raunchy confidence with Wayne legendary wordplay and punchline density. Tracks reportedly range from hard hitting club records to more melodic cuts where Wayne sings hooks.

At least two tracks feature Wayne revisiting his Dedication era mixtape flow, something his core fans have requested for years. Sexyy Red apparently pushed him toward that style after telling him that generation is what introduced her to his music growing up.

Beats have been provided by a mix of established and emerging producers. Turbo, who produced several of Sexyy Red biggest hits, is handling at least three tracks. Wayne in house producers at Young Money have contributed additional production.

Release Strategy

Neither artist team has confirmed the project publicly. However, Republic Records, Sexyy Red label, and Young Money have reportedly been in discussions about distribution and rollout strategy. The tentative plan is a surprise drop model similar to Beyonce recent releases, with minimal promotion before launch.

Industry insiders expect at least one single to surface before the end of the year with the full project arriving in early 2027. Whether it will be marketed as a Sexyy Red album featuring Wayne or a true 50/50 joint project remains unclear.

Both artists have massive but somewhat different fanbases. Wayne core audience skews older with deep hip hop knowledge while Sexyy Red dominates the younger TikTok and streaming demographic. A collaboration could introduce each artist to the other primary audience in a way features alone have not accomplished.

Wayne last appeared on Sexyy Red 2024 single and the two performed it together at Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash to a crowd that went ballistic. That reaction reportedly cemented Wayne belief that a full project would work commercially.
